What to do if travelling to Majorca with children

Summer is approaching, and its getting time to check out possible holiday destinations, holidays that we have been looking forward to. Sometimes, to organise a holiday with children is harder than only with adults, though without doubt much more pleasurable. In this article we show you a series of solutions and ideas to make your holiday we children more enjoyable.

Firstly in our search will be the accommodation, the place that we are going to spend our precious holidays.It must be a place in which we feel ”at home”as well as our children. It is of primary importance that we feel relaxed and happy in our villa.Depending on the accommodation and area we choose, we can select from apartments in the capital to magnificent villas with private pools near some cove.

But, back to reality: Once we have chosen our holiday accommodation, how can we enjoy Majorca with the children? There are many amusement options, for all the family on the island and here we suggest a few.


Sa Dragonera¨; the story of Dragonera goes that the island of Sa Dragonera was protected by a sleeping dragon that kept the invaders and pirates away. Small, for an island and too big to be an islet, Sa Dragonera has been designated since 1995, a National Park and area of protection.Ideal to visit with children, this park offers a spectacular journey, surrounded by the sea, trees and nature, the children can play and be amused, while their elders relax under the Balearic sun.

To get there is a boat journey from Andraix or San Telmo. The boats leave daily from May to October between ++- 10.15 and 13.15 from 1st Oct to the last day of June, except January and February. During summer they are more frequent.

Finca Son Mas: is an agricultural development with a great history both cultural and natural and the property is being maintained and conserved. During the visit to the estate, that takes approximately one hour, it is possible to enjoy the countryside of the area, get to know the different indigenous flora and with a bit of luck, see some animals like sheep or donkeys. The visit is adaptable for everyone, depending on ones level of agility. The excursion is available daily from 9.00 – 17.00 except 25/26 December and 1st of Jan. cost for adults is 4euros and 3euros for children from 2-10years.


Santa Ponsa; is situated in the municipality of Calvia, the beach of golden sand, is 1.300metres long and 100 metres wide, ideal for all the family to spend a happy day. Also, in the afternoon the promenade becomes a market of “artesania” ( arts and crafts)There are agood selection of restaurants and bars with local cuisine.

Calo d¨en Pellicer: is a small cove ideal to go with small children.It is situated 7kms from Calvia, and to reach it one has to decend some steps, but there is a ramp to easily decend with prams.There is a good shady area under the pine trees.

Cas Catala ¨: Also known as Calo´ dels Malls/Mais or Buguenvilla,this is a small cove perfect for all the family, because of its size it is possible to have the children in view all the time .Situated near Palma 6kms away, there is a lift for easy access though it closes at 18h.There is a restaurant near the beach and a parking at street level.

Playa de Alcudia: also known as Playa Grande is a length of white sands and crystal clear waters that stretches from for 7kms.Situated in the north of the islandit is one of the favourite places for many families to spend a peaceful day.

Theme parks

Katmandu Park.If you would like to have a different experience in Majorca with your children, don’t miss Katmandu Park that has been acclaimed as the best themed park in Majorca and the 2nd best in Spain. It has attractions for all the family, from the splash zone where the little ones can cool off from the heat,to the adventure with zombies in 5D that leaves the hairs standing up on the heads of the adults.Open all the year from 10.00 to 20.00 and in the summer season till 22.00h. prices range from 21.90euros for 4-12 years and 27.90 euros for adults. Under 4years go free.

Hidropark Alcudia: This is the only water park in the north of the island and is perfect for families with small children, because they can enjoy the water attractions. From “KamiKazes”to swimming pools wit waves this park offers amusements for all the family. It is open from May to Oct from 10.00 -17.00, and in July/Aug until 18.00hrs.Prices from 22.90euros for adults 16.90euros for children from 3-11years and people over 65 years.
